It took until the bottom of the ninth for the Lake Country DockHounds to win Sunday over the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 6-5.
Outfielder, Lamar Briggs put a charge in the offense when he homered to right in the bottom of the second inning giving the Hounds an early 3-0 lead.
After a balk by Mei Mei with a runner on third scored the Goldeye’s first run, first baseman David Washington hit his fourth home run of the season to lead off the fourth and cut the DockHounds lead to 3-2.
Briggs hitting in the bottom of the sixth, with two outs, gave the DockHounds a 4-2 lead when he hit his second home run of the game (his third of the season.)
Pitching in relief, Mitch Sparks loaded the bases in the seventh with a single and a pair of walks before getting Raul Navarro to flyout to right, keeping the score 4-2.
In the eighth, after walks to Ian Sagdal and Washington, the Goldeyes tied the game on a two out double by Deon Stafford Jr. They took the lead in the nineth when Raul Navarro singled, scoring Kevin Lachance from second.
Trailing 5-4 in the ninth, the DockHounds got things started with a one out single by Briggs. After a soft flyout to right, Connor Bagnieski and Aaron Takacs walked to load the bases.
Daikan Yoh, on a 1-1 pitch hit a bloop single that landed in shallow centerfield. The ball hung in the air long enough to allow both Briggs and Bagnieski to score.
The victory gives the DockHounds their second straight series win, and first at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park.
The DockHounds have an off day before the Kane County Cougars come to town for a three-game series beginning on Tuesday.
