DockHounds Win Streak Gets Derailed By Gary SouthShore

DockHounds fall to Gary SouthShore RailCats in Game 1

Gary, Ind. — For the second time in the first week of the season, the Lake Country DockHounds were shutout, this time in a Friday night 4-0 defeat to the Gary SouthShore RailCats.

Sterling Sharp made his second start and was once again good enough to help the DockHounds win, but received no runs in support. He completed five efficient innings and only allowed two runs in the fifth inning on a two-run home run.

Double plays plagued the offense and squashed multiple great scoring opportunities in the middle innings while the game was tied. Three twin-killings were rolled into by DockHounds’ bats.

Marek Chlup and Josh Altmann both singled on the first two pitches to begin the fourth inning, but couldn’t score.

Justin Connell and Josh Morgan worked walks to begin the fifth, but never advanced. Three times, Lake Country had the leadoff batter at second with no outs. Not only did the DockHounds not score, they also never got a runner to third base.

Lake Country will be back in action at the Steel Yard Saturday afternoon at 4:00 CT when Brett cOnine will make his first start of the season and aim to even the series.
