After signing the our first player in franchise history last week, the DockHounds are not slowing down and have announced the signing of Aaron Takacs as the team’s second official roster addition.
Takacs, who will quickly become known as “Tak” to DockHounds fans, is a highly versatile utility player, capable of playing every position on the field. A native of Oviedo, Florida, Takacs joins the DockHounds after spending last season in the American Association with the Houston Apollos and a stint with the Utica Unicorns of the United Shore League.
“I watched Tak play this summer for the Houston Apollo’s and knew immediately that he could be a piece of the puzzle that would make the DockHounds a contender in our first year. After talking to him and getting to know more about him, it only confirmed that he was a great fit for us,” said Manager Jim Bennett. “Tak puts up good numbers every year, can play every position on the field, and has a great feel for the game. This guy plays to win and that’s what this game is all about. I’m looking forward to having him be a part of the DockHounds.”
Takacs played his college ball for Cairn University and Montreat College before joining the Salina Stockade in 2020. In 59 games last season with the Apollos, Takacs, a left-handed batter, had an impressive .337 batting average with a .403 on-base percentage and drove in 45 runs. As a position player, he started games at all three outfield positions, as well as first base and shortstop. Over the course of his professional career, “Tak” has shown that he is a true utility player, making at least one start at every field position except catcher.
