DockHounds Make First Trade – Acquiring TJ Bennett

Welcome TJ Bennett to Lake Country

With the team’s first trade in franchise history, the DockHounds have acquired TJ Bennett from the Chicago Dogs in exchange for a player to be named later.

Bennett, an infielder who primarily plays third base, has experience in the American Association having played for the Lincoln Saltdogs, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, and most recently the Chicago Dogs. Bennett has Triple-A experience on his resume with the Sacramento River Cats, the minor league affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.

“Signing TJ is exactly what the doctor ordered. His humble, veteran presence on the field, in the clubhouse, and in the community is exactly what we need,” said Manager Jim Bennett. “He’s a big bat in the middle of the lineup that has power to all fields. He plays ‘for the love of the game’ and will put a smile on a lot of kids’ faces that interact with him at the ballpark.”

Bennett, a 6’3” left-handed batter, brings a veteran bat with power to the middle of the DockHounds lineup. In 2021, he hit an impressive .357 with the Chicago Dogs including 9 home runs and 40 RBI’s in 52 games played. Over the course of his career and especially in the American Association, Bennett has proven to be a reliable hitter and a versatile infielder capable of playing multiple positions when needed.
