Saturday night, the Winnipeg Goldeyes became the first road team to win at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park, by defeating the Lake Country DockHounds 6-3.
For the second straight night the home side hit back-to-back home runs. This time it was TJ Bennett and Gabriel Noriega; both coming with two outs in the bottom of the first.
In the top of the second, Winnipeg sent nine batters to the plate, scoring five runs. Doubles by Raul Navarro and Ian Sagdal accounted for four of the runs scored in an inning.
Lake Country DockHounds pitcher, Taylor Bloye settled down after the second inning, not allowing a hit over the next three innings. He would be tagged with the loss however, going five innings, giving up five runs (four earned,) on four hits, striking out two and walking five.
In the fifth inning, the DoackHounds cut into the Winnipeg lead. The inning began with a walk to right fielder, Tristen Carranza. He then stole both second and third before an RBI single from Connor Bagnieski made the score 5-3.
The DockHounds were ready to rally in the eighth inning. Aaron Takacs singled and stole second ahead of a TJ Bennett walk. But unfortunately, the inning ended when Gabriel Noriega ground out to third.
Winnipeg tacked on one more run without the benefit of a hit in the ninth before securing the win.
Lake Country DockHounds will look to win their first home series in team history on Sunday, first pitch scheduled at 1:35pm.
